The Program allows employers to retain qualified and experienced workers, and avoid recruiting and training new employees if there is a decrease in normal business activity.

Co-op and Internship Resources

The Student Work Placement Program (SWPP)
SWPP allows employers to receive wage subsidies up to 70%, pick from a pool of workers eager to gain professional experience, and develop new talent for their business.

Canadian Media Producers Association (CMPA)
While the funding stems from the SWPP, CMPA’s mentorship programs offer students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with Canadian Media.

Propel Student Work Placement Program — Tourism HR Canada (THRC)
The Propel program works with SWPP to subsidize the wages of students and connect them with businesses in the accommodation, food and beverage, recreation and entertainment, transportation, and travel service industry.

Career Launcher Program
Employers will receive financial support to create positions within their companies for students pursuing internships.

Association for Co-operative Education and Work-Integrated Learning BC/Yukon (ACEWIL)
ACEWIL connects employers with Provincial and Federal funding opportunities for student and intern wage subsidies, with hiring prospective students, succession planning, attracting talent, and other useful services.

Work BC — Co-operative Education Program
Aside from all the other services it offers, Work BC also supports work experience and co-op initiatives. This site provides a general overview of providing a student with a co-operative learning experience.

BC Employee Training Grant
The B.C. Employer Training Grant provides funding to small, medium, and large enterprises to support skills training for their workforces, and associated hiring costs.

Co-operative Education and Work-Integrated Learning (CEWIL)
CEWIL details information about Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC)’s Student Work Placement Program (SWPP) while providing networking opportunities, professional development, accreditation and standards for work-integrated learning, and other such tools for employers and students.

Canadian Agricultural Human Resource Council (CAHRC) — AgriTalent Program
