Richard Horbachewski is driven by his passion for fostering positive and meaningful change. In his role as Associate VP, External Relations, Chief Advancement Officer, and Executive Director of the VIU Foundation at Vancouver Island University, Richard leads a passionate team that is fully committed to advancing the mission and vision of VIU. Born and raised in Calgary, Alberta, Richard relocated to Nanaimo in 2021, driven by his belief that the city has the potential to become the premier destination on Vancouver Island. As the Chair of the Nanaimo Prosperity Corporation, Richard is committed to creating an economic climate that attracts new businesses and entices individuals to bring their skills and expertise to address the needs of the community and enhance Nanaimo's appeal as a desirable city to live in.
