With the dissolution of Small Business BC, various organizations are well-positioned to provide support and address the needs left in its absence. From federally-backed initiatives to specialized programs for Indigenous entrepreneurs, the following organizations ensure small businesses have the tools, funding, and mentorship needed to thrive.

  1. Government of British Columbia’s Small Business Resources
    The provincial government offers comprehensive support for small businesses, including information on registration, permits, funding programs, and taxation.
  2. Community Futures British Columbia
    Focused on rural communities, Community Futures provides business loans, technical support, and training to entrepreneurs, including assistance with business planning and marketing.
  3. Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC)
    BDC provides financing, venture capital, and advisory services to small and medium-sized businesses at various stages of growth.
  4. Futurpreneur Canada
    Futurpreneur Canada provides financing, mentorship, and support to young entrepreneurs (ages 18–39) to help them start and grow their businesses. Through its Indigenous Entrepreneur Startup Program (IESP), Futurpreneur also offers tailored financing and mentorship specifically for Indigenous entrepreneurs.
  5. Indigenous Business Development Services (IBDS)
    IBDS provides tailored support to Indigenous entrepreneurs in British Columbia, offering business development workshops, skills training, and advisory services to help individuals start and grow their businesses.
  6. Innovate BC
    Innovate BC supports tech-focused businesses with funding, mentorship, and programs aimed at fostering innovation and growth in British Columbia. 
  7. Women’s Enterprise (WeBC)
    WeBC provides support to women entrepreneurs in British Columbia, including business loans, mentorship, and training programs designed to empower women in business.
