About the Film

PURPOSE explores one of the most urgent questions of our time: What are our economies truly for? The documentary follows changemakers Katherine Trebeck and Lorenzo Fioramonti as they challenge the growth-at-all-costs model and champion economies that serve both people and planet. Their work has inspired global initiatives such as the Wellbeing Economy Governments alliance.

Following the film, participants will be invited to join a conversation about how the ideas explored in PURPOSE connect to Nanaimo’s journey in reimagining prosperity.

This event is part of Global Doughnut Days 2025, a worldwide celebration of communities reimagining prosperity for the 21st century.
